Seahorses and Circuses and Chicks

posted 31 Mar 2017, 00:44 by Philippa Dancey

This term Seahorses have been enjoying their topic of Circuses. The children have been learning about Georges Seurat, an artist who started using a technique called pointillism, to complete his unfinished piece, The Circus. They have done a fantastic job at using different media, including paint, wax crayon, pencils and pens, to do this.

The children have also been lucky enough to have had chicks to look after in class. They arrived as eggs and we kept them in an incubator with water to keep warm and humid until they hatched. A few days later, we had 7 little chicks which we moved into a nice cosy brooder where the chicks lived for the rest of their time with us. The children named the chicks, we had 2 boys, Jeff and Tweety, and 5 girls, Alvina, Simona and Theodora, Peggy and Chirpy. The chicks have now been moved to a farm where the chicks can roam inside a big barn to lay their eggs.
