posted 22 Jun 2017, 09:17 by Philippa Dancey

This week has been another busy week in Stingray Class.

The children have continued working on their Non-chronological reports linked to the Aztec's. They have identified the features and started to gain an understanding of how one should be set out. In maths we have started looking at multiplication and division sums.

In topic the children have created Aztec head dresses using a variety of materials and they have identified where cocoa beans grow in the world.

In maths we have finished off the Unit ‘Reasoning with Measures’ where I have been impressed with the children’s knowledge of money and perimeter. In English the children have planned their newspaper article based on the Ancient Egyptian tale of how Osiris was murdered by his own brother Seth.

We have started to make our Death masks out of cardboard and paper mache. On Tuesday we had a brilliant reward trip to Cranham Scout Centre and on Thursday we had our last session on the ‘Engaged’ programme at Gloucester Rugby Club, and well done to Marshall who was rewarded with a Gloucester Rugby shirt for his commitment and hard work throughout the programme.

We also want to say well done to Stephen, Gabriel, Conrad and Ellis for becoming Mentors this week.

The first week in a new school or class is always difficult and can make you feel nervous! But it must said that the new pupils and returning pupils have made it look easy by settling in brilliantly!

Our topic for this term is ‘Under the Sea’ and the children have thrown themselves into the various arts and crafts activities fully.  Have a look at some of the activities we have been up to below.

Well done Stingray class!

Stingray Class - Bristol Aquarium Trip

posted 15 Sep 2016, 02:56 by Philippa Dancey

Stingray class had a fab trip to the Bristol Aquarium this week where we all got to see some fantastic and some weird looking animals that live under the sea!

The children were totally immerse in looking into all of the tanks trying to find and identify the different fish and were splashed away the vibrant and dull colours of the fish.

Lots were learnt, especially about the Lemon shark and the Bamboo shark ‘called Boo’. We even got to meet many of our class name sake too!
