It is been a lovely end to the term in Seadragons! The boys started the week with an Easter RE Day learning about what Lent is and the build up to the events that happen in Holy Week.

The boys then continued the week learning about children in other countries and supporting Mr Shaw with his trip to Nepal.

We ended the term with a fantastic Easter Concert and Easter stall in our class. The boys made Easter cakes and decorated their Easter baskets with sugar / tissue paper. They then filled these with mini chocolate eggs and big chocolate eggs to sell on their stall. They looked fab!

Well done Seadragons - have a great Easter holiday!

posted 31 Mar 2017, 06:56 by Philippa Dancey   [ updated 31 Mar 2017, 06:57 ]

This week in Seadragons, the boys have completed their Newspaper articles and have used all the features that they have learnt over the past lessons to create them.

The boys have finally finished their Tutankhamun Death Masks! They were able to paint them at the beginning of the week and then add the finishing touches to them. The boys cut out pieces of blue fabric and stuck them onto the mask template. They then decided to add their own twist to their masks by adding googly eyes and a 3D mouth and nose! They look fantastic, well done Seadragons!

This week in Seadragons, the boys have made a fantastic effort at their own Newspaper Articles. They worked really hard with the adults in the classroom to complete these and have produced some really good, interesting stories!

The boys really enjoyed their Science themed afternoons last week and completed a few experiments. The particular favourite was creating their own colour rainbow using food colouring and milk. The colours merged together to create their own mini rainbow!

The boys have also started to create their own Tutankhamun Masks. So far the boys have cut out their template and have covered it in Paper Mache which will dry over the weekend, ready to paint next week.

This week in Seadragons, we have produced our final Hieroglyphics work onto single pieces of MDF using either paint, glitter or sparkly gems! The boys drew their symbols on first using pencil and then decorated them afterwards. They look amazing!

The boys have also started their Fraction work in Maths this week using Smarties to help them find fractions of amounts. They really enjoyed this activity especially when eating the Smarties afterwards!

This week in Seadragons, the boys have focused on Newspapers in their English unit. They have looked at the features of a Newspaper and matched Headlines to their descriptions.

The boys have also learned about Papyrus Paper this week and have made their own version using teabags and warm water to create the Papyrus paper effect. They then left these to dry and drew their name onto these using the Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics. They look fab!

Extra special mention to Cameron for creating his own Sphinx and Pyramid in his own time at home! Excellent effort!

Last week in Seadragons, the boys started their new English theme of Information texts and looking at what a Recipe is. They also learnt what Imperative Verbs were and what Chronological order is! The boys then had an opportunity to make their own Jam Sandwich using the recipe that they sorted into Chronological order.

In Maths, Seadragons class started to learn how to multiply numbers together using the column method. This was definitely a new challenge for the boys but they worked really hard to try and work out the answers, well done!

Finally, the boys have made their own 'Funky Fruits' out of clay. The boys moulded their balls of clay into a fruit or vegetable of their choice and added some fun characteristics to their faces.

Divali & IT in Seadragons

posted 24 Nov 2016, 09:09 by Philippa Dancey   [ updated 24 Nov 2016, 11:03 ]

This week in Seadragons, we have continued our focus on Information Texts in English. The boys have been able to use ICT this week to help them produce an 'Information Plan' about the Gunpowder Plot. The boys really enjoyed using the computers to help them complete their work and they have done this to a high standard. The boys will then use their plans to help them find out the correct information about the Gunpowder Plot.

Seadragons have also finished their focus on Diwali this week and have made Diva Lamps out of clay. The boys moulded their ball of clay into a flat piece and then turned up the edges to create the sides of the lamp. They chose their own design with some boys pleating the edges of the lamp to create a different effect. They then painted their lamps using bright colours and glitter!
