Fun in the Sun

posted 19 May 2015, 11:04 by Philippa Dancey   [ updated 19 May 2015, 11:58 ]

This year, Bentham Country Club have been organising the event with support from The Virtual School and the Participation Team. The event is for children in care and their families. The ‘Fun in the Sun...Get Hooked on a Hobby’ Day is a fantastic opportunity for you to experience a wide range of new activities, challenges, workshops and sports, see attached flyer.

Date:                    Saturday 27th June 2014

Times:                  10.00am – 3.00pm

Venue:                 Bentham Country Club, Bentham Lane, Gloucester. GL3 4UD

This event is for your whole family, so please bring your other children and/or a friend if the young person in your care is the only child in your household. We hope this will be a great opportunity for you all to enjoy a day out together with something for everyone. The site is wheelchair friendly and there will be a Mobiloo available. In additional to the large outdoor areas we have two huge domes so the British weather will not stop us!

As well as activities, including wheelchair rugby there will also be information about how your children can get involved in positive activities in their local communities, the Library bus, information about the Children in Care Council and the new MOMO App for children and young people.

Lunch is free, however, families will be required to organise their own transport.

To confirm your attendance please contact Bentham by

Monday 15th June:

Please go to and complete the ‘Confirmation of Attendance’ form.

For information, please contact Virtual School on 01452 328360 or the Participation Team on 01452 426855

News from Family Services - Autumn 2014

posted 22 Nov 2014, 04:25 by Philippa Dancey

Family services are available to help support you with any concerns you may have ,from behaviour to sleep issues. We will offer support with paediatrician ‘s and psychiatristappointments, along with help filling forms out and advice.

The halt project is starting again in November for three of our children initially. This is a brilliant project where humans and animals work together.

Also this term we have had the Art Project , this has been a huge success for everyone, giving parents and children fun time working together, it has also been a very social time for parents to chat  together and share experiences in a fun environment. If anyone would like to take this opportunity there will be one more course running after Christmas, as the next course is fully booked .
